**All Pay-outs are estimated on the number of entrants and may vary depending on the number of participants taking part in each division**

1. REGISTRATION AND FEES - Entry fee is $250 per boat/team if received before APRIL 10, 2008. Entry fee is $400 per boat/team if received after April 10, 2008. Each boat entry includes 4 anglers. Two additional anglers may be added to the team for $50 each. There is a maximum of 6 anglers per boat. Each registered boat is eligible for general prizes.

2. ENTRY REFUSAL - The Tournament reserves the right to refuse tournament application or entry from any prospective entrant with or without cause in its sole discretion. Any applicant refused entry shall be entitled to a refund of any paid entry fee.

3. TYPE OF TOURNAMENT - This is a Boat/Team Tournament. No changes are permitted in registered anglers after 6PM Friday afternoon.

4. HOURS OF FISHING – Saturday, lines in 8:00 AM - lines out 4 PM on. Sunday, lines in 8:00 AM –lines out 2:00 PM. Weigh-in on Saturday begins at 4:00 PM and ends at 5:30 PM. Weigh-in on Sunday begins at 2:00 PM and ends at 3:30 PM. All vessels wishing to weigh fish or turn over release cards must be in the marina and in contact with the committee boat no later than the cut-off times Saturday and Sunday.

5. DAILY CHECK OUT - All boats must pass the tournament check point (Checkpoint Charlie) Saturday and Sunday morning clearly displaying their boat number for verification with the check-out committee. The committee will be located on the breakwater at the southwest corner of Miami Beach Marina. Checkout will be from 7:00 am to 8:00 am. Any boats checking out after 8:00am must do so with the Committee Boat by passing in front of the fuel dock (E pier) at Miami Beach Marina. Any boats that do not visually check out will be automatically disqualified from the tournament. All boats need to get a confirmation from the checkout crew. No boats maybe trailered following checkout.

6. FISHING BOUNDARIES - Tournament boundaries are inside a line extending to the east of Carysfort Light on the south and east of the lighthouse at Hillsboro Inlet on the North out to 25 nautical miles offshore. Boats may not fish to the north or south of these perimeters. If a fish is hooked, and during the fighting of the fish a boat exceeds the boundary, they may continue to fight the fish. However, if any additional fish are hooked while outside of the boundary these fish will not count.

7. RULES - Unless otherwise stated, IGFA rules will apply throughout this tournament.

8. FISHING LICENSE - All participating anglers must possess a valid Florida Saltwater Fishing License unless fishing aboard a Florida fishing licensed charter vessel. All registered boats planning to harvest yellowfin tuna must possess an Atlantic Highly Migratory Species Angling Permit. (Permits can be obtained through the NMFS at 888-872-8862 or www.nmfspermits.com).

9. ELIGIBLE SPECIES – Cobia, Dolphin, Kingfish, Tuna (Blackfin and Yellowfin), Wahoo


10. FISH LIMITS / MINIMUM FISH SIZES / WEIGHTS -
a) A maximum of ten (10) fish per day per BOAT may be weighed.
b) A maximum of four (4) fish per species per day per BOAT may be weighed.
c) The minimum weight for cobia, dolphin, wahoo, king mackerel, tuna (blackfin and yellowfin) is ten (10) pounds. Fish not meeting these minimum weights will not count.
e) All fish must meet state and federal requirements.

PLEASE NOTE: According to Florida state law, recreational anglers may harvest ONE cobia with a fork length of 33 inches or greater per angler per day .Recreational anglers may only possess two king mackerel 24 inches or greater per day per angler and only two wahoo per day per angler.

11. SCORING – All qualifying weight fish will score at 1 point, or fraction thereof, per pound. In the event of a tie in weight, the winner will be determined by the earliest weigh-in time. All qualifying fish must be entered at the official weigh-in while a boat/team representative is present.

12. TACKLE - All fish must be caught on rod and reel. No wire lines permitted other than leaders. No treble hooks permitted. Leader length is not to exceed 15 feet with double line not to exceed 5 feet for a combined total of not more than 20 feet .No more than 6 lines may be in the water at any one time.

13. HOOKING & FIGHTING - The angler must hook, fight and bring in the fish unaided by any other person. No one other than the angler may touch the line or rod. The fish will be considered hooked at the time of the strike.

14. CHUMMING - No live bait chumming is permitted. Live chumming will be defined as the act of throwing live bait overboard for the purpose of chumming or attracting fish to your boat. Put your dead baits in a bucket. If it is plastic it is not chum. Ground chum in bags may be used.

15. BAIT FISHING - Is permitted after the boat has checked out before the official start of fishing and after fishing has ended. During tournament fishing times boats must notify the Committee Boat, and receive permission by radio, of their intent to baitfish.

16. COMMUNICATIONS – The official radio channel will be VHF 82 with a backup channel of VHF 78. Eligible fish boated should be reported to the Committee Boat by radio or cell phone, with the boat number angler letter, species and approximate weight of the fish. The Committee Boat cell phone number will be broadcast at the check-out each morning. Call-ins reported by phone will be broadcast by the Committee Boat on the official VHF radio channel to all tournament vessels in radio range. During the last 10 minutes of fishing each day all hook-ups and fish being fought should be reported as well as the disposition (i.e., lost, boated) of those fish.

17. WEATHER CONDITIONS - In the event of unsafe conditions at sea, the Weather Committee, in its best judgment, may choose to call off the Tournament until a later date. If one day is “weathered out,” the Tournament shall be based on the results of the day fished. Such notice of cancellation and resumption will be broadcast on Channel 82. Should Saturday be “weathered out,” the hours of fishing on Sunday will be lengthened from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with weigh-ins until 4:00 p.m.

18. PROTESTS - Must be submitted in writing and accompanied by $150 cash or certified check made payable to US Captain Cup LLC.

19. POLYGRAPH - Consideration of the tournament's acceptance of an angler entry, each registered angler specifically agrees and consents to voluntarily submit to a polygraph examination or examinations, to be conducted by a polygraph examiner selected by the Tournament Committee, at any time until the prize winner is determined and announced. Further, each registered angler agrees to obtain the agreement and consent of each and every occupant of the boat from which the angler fishes during the tournament, including, but not limited to the captain and crew, to submit to a polygraph examination or examinations as described above. The method and conduct of all polygraph examinations, and the interpretation of the results thereof, shall be in the sole judgment of the polygraph examiner appointed by the Committee, whose opinion shall be final. If any registered angler or occupant of a vessel refuses to submit to a polygraph examination, or if any registered angler or occupant of a vessel refuses to submit to a polygraph examination, or if any registered angler or occupant gives a response which, in the sole opinion of the polygraph examiner is not accurate or truthful, then all registered anglers on the boat shall be immediately disqualified without further notice by the Tournament Committee. Any registered angler so disqualified shall not be entitled to any prize, award, or entry fee refund, including attorney's fees they may suffer arising out of this fishing tournament.

20. RISKS AND HOLD HARMLESS - All boats, anglers, crews and guests fish at their own discretion and at their own risk. All participants and guests in the Tournament indemnify and hold harmless the US CAPTAIN CUP LLC, all members of the Tournament Committee, sponsors, press and their agents and employees from any and all liability, loss or damage including attorney’s fees they may suffer arising out of this fishing tournament.
21. SIGNING OF THE ENTRY FORM - By signing the entry form, the angler agrees to follow the above tournament rules and that the tournament and/or it's sponsors may use, without payment or restriction, any photographs in which he or she appears for any purpose whatsoever, but not limited to resale, advertising, commercial or promotional material. All anglers are required to sign their entry form as certification that they have read and agreed to abide by all rules and the above liability release.

The Challenge

Lite – Entry fee is $300 with 5% deducted to fund season ending “Captains Clash” and 5% funding tournament expenses. Entry fees will be divided into three places paying 50% - 30% - 20% after the 10% deduction.

Daily

Lite – Entry fee is $200 with 5% deducted to fund season ending “Captains Clash” and 5% funding tournament expenses. Should the tournament comprise only one day of fishing, then the total combined monies shall be paid for that one day.

Winner Take All

WTA – Entry fee is $500 with 5% deducted to fund season ending “Captains Clash” and 5% funding tournament expenses. The remainder will be paid the entering team with the most points.

Funfish Slam

SLAM – Entry fee is $100 per species with 5% deducted to fund season ending “Dolphin Bash” and 5% funding tournament expenses. Teams may pick the species that they wish to enter. To fish all five, the fee is $500. The “Funfish Slam” will pay 60% for first and 40% for second after the deductions.

Cobia – 15 Boats @ $100 = $1500 Less 10% = $1350
Dolphin – 30 Boats @ $100 = $3000 Less 10% = $2700
Kingfish – 35 Boats @ $100 = $3500 Less 10% = $3150

Dolphin Bash

The “Dolphin Bash” is an extra division not requiring additional entry fees. The winner will be determined by the Teams top three dolphin weights over the course of the three tournaments. Participation in this Division requires the Team to fish all three events. The prize money for the “Dolphin Bash” will consist of five percent (5%) of the funds collected from the “Funfish Slam”. Total prize money forwarded to the jackpot will depend upon the total entries in the “Funfish Slam” division over all three tournaments and will be paid at the end of the third tournament.

Total money collected over three tournaments = $36,000 x 5% = $1800

Captain’s Clash

The winner of the “Captain’s Clash” will be determined by the Team with the highest score at the end of the “U.S. Captain’s Shootout” It is a WINNER TAKE ALL jackpot. Participation in this Division requires the Team to have qualified to fish this event. The prize money for the “Captain’s Clash” will consist of five percent (5%) of the funds collected from the Challenge Lite and Heavy, Daily Lite and Heavy and the Winner Take All. Total prize money forwarded to the jackpot will depend upon the total entries in these divisions over all three tournaments and will be paid at the end of the “U.S. Captain’s Clash”.
Total money collected over three tournaments = $172,500 x 5% = $8,625

OUALIFYING for THE CAPTAIN’S CLASH

The Captain’s Clash is limited to thirty (30) Teams that have qualified over the course of the previous three events. To be eligible to fish the Captain’s Clash a team must qualify by placing in the top ten in one of the three previous tournaments. If the team places in the top ten in more than one tournament then the 11th place team in that tournament will become eligible. If another team has qualified to fish in the Captain’s Clash in that tournament, then the 12th place team becomes eligible, and so on. A qualifying team may choose to withdraw prior to the Captain’s Clash, enabling another team that is next in line in the last tournament that the withdrawing team has fished, to qualify.

Captain Clash Rules

The Captain’s Clash shall consist of one fishing day, Saturday with check-out from 7:00 am to 8:00 am, lines in at 8:00 am, lines out at 4:00 pm. The weigh station will remain open from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Saturday. The awards banquet will take place at 6:30 Sunday. In the event of inclement weather, the date may be changed at the discretion of the Tournament Committee.

Entry fee is $1000 per team. All other rules for the Captain’s Clash are the same as those for the previous three Captain’s Cup events.

The Captain’s Clash will crown the ultimate big game sportfishing team in the U.S. Teams will qualify during the previous Captain’s Cup events winning an invitation to fish the crowning event and take home four gold championship rings, cash awards and a replica of the perpetual Captain’s Cup trophy.
